Is Social Media Right for Your Brand?

December 2020 Blog post

As traditional media’s influence begins to wane we find ourselves turning to social media to market our brands and expand our reach. The internet has quickly become the fastest way to get our message across and share information with the largest audience. Social media is taking over but is it for everyone? Here are some questions to ask if you need social media to get you started on the right foot.

1. Who is my target audience?

Knowing who you are targeting or trying to connect to with your social media presence is a key factor to success. Who are you trying to reach with your message? Are you looking to connect with teens, young professionals, retirees or senior citizens? How you approach each of these demographics will differ greatly and this is going to affect which platform is ideal for you. Once you decide who it is that you are marketing to you will also be better able to decide how to get your message across.

2. Why social media?

Why are you turning to social media? Are you looking to boost engagement, build awareness for your brand, market to a younger audience or is more international acquisition your goal? Keeping your reasons for using social media in mind when creating a marketing plan will assist you in tailoring your content and approach. Considering these points beforehand will avoid unnecessary headaches and allow you to come up with a more successful communications plan in the long run.
